Tickets Now On Sale For August Wilson’s How I Learned What I Learned, Starring Ruben Santiago-Hudson

Step inside the mind of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson in the New York premiere of How I Learned What I Learned. Tickets are now on sale for the new solo show, starring Tony winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson as the legendary late playwright. Directed and co-conceived by Todd Kreidler, the production will play from November 5 through December 22 at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre in off-Broadway's Pershing Square Signature Center, with an official opening night on November 24.

In How I Learned What I Learned, Santiago-Hudson shares stories of the Wilson’s life, including his first few jobs, a stint in jail, an early relationship, his first kiss, his foray into film and the friends he made over his lifetime. The play charts one man's journey of self-discovery through adversity, and what it means to be a black artist in America. Wilson is the writer of The Piano Lesson, Fences, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, Two Trains Running and many more.

The new production features scenic and projection design by David Gallo, costume design by Constanza Romero (who is Wilson's widow), lighting design by Thom Weaver and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier.
